Madoka Kaname lives a quiet life and studies at Mitakihara Middle School with her best friends Sayaka and Mami. One day at school, a new student, Homura Akemi, joins Madoka and her friends' class. Shortly after the arrival of this mysterious student, Madoka meets a strange creature who calls himself Kyubey. He promises to grant her her greatest wish if she agrees to become a Puella Magi and help fight the witches that menace the world. But why does Homura try to dissuade Madoka from making this pact?
