Gol D. Roger, who lived a long time ago, is known as the greatest pirate of all time. In fact, he was nicknamed the 'King of Pirates'. After his death, his treasure, known as One Piece, was hidden somewhere on the Grand Line. Rumours have it that this booty is the largest ever known, and that it is priceless. Many pirates tried in vain to find the One Piece... and most of them lost their lives in the process.

Luffy's power comes from his demon fruit: a legendary fruit that gives various skills and abilities to those who eat it, but condemns the person to never being able to swim (a pity for a pirate always at sea). Today, there are over a hundred different demon fruits, including Gomu Gomu no Mi (Luffy's, which makes him elastic) and Uo Uo no Mi (Kaido's, which transforms him into an azure dragon).

Who are Luffy's crew?
You'll never see Luffy without his straw hat with the red ribbon. This hat comes from the old Lord of the Pirates: Gol D. Roger. Well, actually it was Shanks who gave it to Luffy when he was too young to go to sea with him.
That's why Luffy called his crew: the Straw Hat Crew.
The quest for the One Piece can begin once the crew has been assembled. They set sail aboard The Vogue Merry that Kaya and Merry gave to Luffy. The Thousand Sunny, designed by carpenter Franky, will succeed the previous ship.

The captain of the Straw Hat
Luffy, accompanied by his crew and his incredible abilities, is ready to set sail for Grand Line. The Gomu Gomu no Mi (also known as the Gum-Gum fruit) has made Luffy elastic. Luffy accidentally ingested the demon fruit at 7 years old when Shanks the Red and his team had just stolen it from the Government. Since then, his body has turned to rubber, enabling him to master multiple techniques such as the Gomu Gomu no Bajrang pistol.

What has become of Roronoa Zoro, the former pirate hunter?
The first member of the Straw Hat crew is none other than a former pirate hunter, now a pirate. Zoro knows how to handle swords like no other and is known for his fearsome 3-sabre technique. He's a major asset to the crew, despite his tendency to get lost wherever he goes... ! When he joins Luffy, he soon finds himself wanted by the Navy for piracy.
His bounty now stands at 1,111,000,000 berries. It's the crew's fourth biggest bounty. Does that make you want to go looking for her?
Why is Nami joining the crew of the straw hat?
To fight Baggy the Clown, Nami temporarily allies herself with Luffy and his crew. After a victory, she decides to follow Luffy and become the crew's cartographer and navigator. Before she met Luffy, she despised all pirates, but now she is one of them and is wanted by the Navy for a bounty of 366,000,000 berries. What's Usopp's role?
Usopp (you may know him as Pipo) is the crew's sharpshooter. He is also wanted, despite his cowardice and fear, for his acts of piracy. He dreams of following in his father's footsteps and becoming a true sea pirate! God Usopp's prize money is 500,000,000 berries.
Why is Sanji known as the Black Leg?
Sanji is the crew's cook, calm, cool and understanding with his other companions. Sanji's particularity, which has given him his nickname, is that he only fights with his feet, as he doesn't want to damage or break his hands, which are too important and useful for cooking. He's a master of martial arts and doesn't use any demon fruits.

A half-human reindeer in the crew?

Nico Robin has been wanted since she was 8 years old because of criminal organisations and then because of acts of piracy. The crew's archaeologist has built up a character and a shell because of her harsh past. She doesn't hesitate to use violence when necessary. The bounty for this pirate continues to rise and is now estimated at 930,000,000 berries.
Why is Franky a cyborg?
Franky, whose real name is Cutty Flam, is the eighth member of the Straw Hat crew. Following a defeat in battle, Franky was seriously injured and managed to heal himself thanks to his knowledge of carpentry and by recycling found metals. In fact, he is the crew's carpenter and the man behind the ship's construction and maintenance. This cyborg, measuring over 2 metres, has had his bounty doubled by the Navy since the ellipse. Capture him if you can, for 394,000,000 berries.
What is Brook's power?
Thanks to the fruit of resurrection, Yomi Yomi no Mi, Brook has the power to walk on water without sinking, thanks to his skeleton-like body. As soon as he ingested the Yomi Yomi no Mi, the fruit of resurrection, he became immortal! Since his first death, he has had the appearance of a skeleton. Within the crew, he is the musician and second swordsman after Zoro. It's hard to miss this strange character and his 383,000,000 berries.
What is Jinbe's role in One Piece?
Jinbe is the helmsman of the crew and the tenth member of Luffy's crew. He is wanted by the Navy despite being known as a pirate who hates other pirates. The bounty on the man-fish whale shark (it's a long name, but that's what he is) continues to rise. It now stands at 1,100,000,000 berries. Don't be afraid to take him on, despite his mastery of karate.

Based purely on our personal experience, our feelings and our expertise, we all unanimously agree that Captain Luffy in the straw hat is the best pirate!
However, we also have to admit that Luffy wouldn't be able to excel as much without his nakamas. And the crew - Zoro, Sanji, Nami, Usopp, Chopper, Robin, Franky, Brook and Jinbe - are all united and move forward together thanks to Luffy.
So they're inseparable, and Luffy's greatest strength is his crew! Each character has his or her own characteristics, making them experts in their fields.
